ESSAY: dreams, good or bad??

A dream is an issue everyone is involved with. On the one hand there are a lot of supporters which think dreams are important, on the other hand there are also opponents who say they are senselessly. In this essay I will look at the arguments of the supporters and opponents of dreams.

To start with, the supporters of dreams believe that dreams often help to solve problems by cleansing oneself and it also cleans the psyche of a human. The supporters also argue that dreams can sometimes predict the future. For example, if someone dreams about a bad thing which would happen in future and this person believes it, the person is able to change the future and protect herself from the bad things.

In contrast, the opponents of dreams point out that e.g. nightmares can keep someone awake and the loss of sleep can causes more stress the following day. In addition, the critics of this ideology doubt that dreams have anything to do with reality or have any real predictive value. For example, if someone has a lot of nightmares, this person will be scared about everything she dreamed. It’s impossible to live a normal life.

I’m convinced that there are a lot of good pro and con arguments, but it’s equally possible that dreams aren’t of equal importance for each individual.

To sum up, dreams is still a controversial topic and it’s unlikely that in future everyone will have the same opinion. While the supporters are obviously convinced that dreams are good for our mind and body, the opponents reject this idea, claiming that dreams causes more anxieties than recovery for mind. In my opinion dreams are very important for everyone of us.

Guenter hat gesagt…

Issues are topics like euthanasia, abortion, ... --> Dreams are a topic that concerns each of us.

involved: You can get involved with the wrong kind of people. You can also get involved in an activity.
You can't really speak of 'supporters' and 'opponents' in this case because it's not an issue. --> ... there are those who are convinced ...

... by cleansing us or rather our psyche. (The way you write it, the dream would cleanse itself.)
... sometimes predict the future e.g. in warning dreams, which is very helpful for us. If for example ...
... a bad thing ... -> a danger / a threat / ... (Avoid 'thing' when you don't really mean 'Ding'.)
g: in the future
g: (person) ... and protect himself ...
(As you have psychology I'd like to point out that the opposite can be true as this dream may turn into a self-fulfilling prophecy.)

g: can + infinitive

"equal importance" ???

In the last paragraph you should put forward your opinion, which you don't do. You must take a stand. - "I'm convinced there are ... arguments." This doesn't really make sense. It's about as meaningful as saying 'I'm convinced there is washing powder."

I get the impression you have few ideas and you don't develop them very well. Have a look at my blog. There are examples there.

Be careful:
who / which,
adverb / adjective (Dreams are senseless.)
